Celebrate the Harvest Moon, join us for finger food and wild-crafted tea.
Lori Weidenhammer will give tours of the MOP Bee Garden and discuss some of the reasons she and co-designer Jean Kindratsky chose to grow certain plant varieties. Weather permitting, (and hive permitting) Weidenhammer will also give you the opportunity to try out her solar powered sonic therapy chair.
Garden Gnomad Podcasts – Lois Klassen’s summer-long Garden Gnomad Project presents a series of short audio works to guide visitors to hidden secrets in the Means of Production Garden. Bring your iPod, portable CD player, transistor (there will be some available to borrow) and load up podcasts onsite from the solar-powered Garden Gnomad machine and Kitchen Radio (Rafael Tsuchida). Seasonal Marker Workshops in August

Join Sharon Kallis in creating a shade structure for the garden with blackberry vine, morning glory and field grasses using the techniques explored in the last few workshops. Participants are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner to enjoy while in the garden, workshops are free and open to all.

Celebrate Solstice and the Honey Moon, join us for finger food and wild-crafted teas with Madame Beespeaker and master beekeeper Brian Campbell.
Learn about the two new honey bee hives and find out more about the bees in your neighborhood..
Meet Garden Gnomad a garden photo booth that will print out commemorative postcards & photos that position visitors inside community gardens from Vancouver, Banff, Calgary, NYC and Brooklyn.
Tour the community made art installations, made with materials grown on site.

This months work party with Lori Weidenhammer will focus on planting the bee garden and prepping for the arrival of our bee hives in a few weeks time.
2-4pm
Work with Sharon Kallis in designing and building a “bee herding ” fence using materials grown on site such as, bamboo, willow, hazel wood and native dogwood plantings. The fence will help direct the bees as they enter or leave the hive to fly higher then human foot traffic in the surrounding area.

Meet and Greet the Artists at the Mount Pleasant Community Centre or at the MOP garden
Chat with artists Lori Weidenhammer and Lois Klassen from MOPARRC and take part in Earth Day activities at the Mount Pleasant Community Centre Earth Day event. At the MOP garden, join Sharon Kallis for a work party and get your hands dirty from 10am-12n00n, or help with finishing the living willow fence and other hands-on workshop activities from 2-4pm

The MOPARRC Seasonal Marker Tea Parties will feature projects that acknowledge Earth Day, Summer Solstice and the Harvest Moon. Each event will involve the final installation of a community-made artwork using materials grown on site.
Predominantly material-based investigations, MOPARRC’s community projects increase sensory awareness of the plantings at MOP Garden and enrich the urban participant’s connection to seasonal rhythms and growing cycles. Offering multiple levels of engagement, each project has an increased emphasis on conceptualization, collaboration and execution.
Earth Day Tea Party: Sunday. April 26th, 1-4pm
Whether you are a seasoned gardener, or a budding green thumb, you are invited to attend our Earth Day tea party with finger food and wild-crafted teas. Suggested attire: “blossom pink garden party”
Join us in finishing the new hazelwood common’s gate. Learn about how you can be involved in beekeeping in community gardens and your own back yard.

Join our Honey Moon tea party, community participation in ephemeral installations and the preparation for two new beehives in the Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood. Help us mark and map urban pollinator corridors.
Harvest Moon Tea Party: Sunday. September 13th, 1-4pm
Celebrate the fruits of our work parties! Bring the whole family to our Harvest Moon tea party, and help build a community site-specific installation with New Zealand flax, grown on site.
Means of Production Community Work Parties: Learn while volunteering!

Please join our work parties at the Means of Production Garden on the third Saturday of every month from 10 am to 12 pm. BYO garden gloves and tools if possible. Each month we will focus on a specific part of the Means of Production Garden, with a particular focus to making the site more attractive to native bees, honey bees and other pollinators. These workshops are unique hands-on learning opportunities! All are welcome!
